Polar Motion

After exploring the rhythms of the Arctic and the endurance of Antarctica, I’ve brought both poles together in a single animation, a global visualization that captures the heartbeat of our planet. From opposite ends of the Earth, these frozen regions move in quiet synchrony expanding, retreating, breathing in cycles that shape weather, oceans, and life everywhere in between. This isn’t just ice in motion; it’s a reminder of the deep connections that bind our world together. Through GIS and satellite visualization, we can witness Earth as one continuous system, alive and constantly evolving.

Polar Ice Dynamics: Arctic and Antarctic

Earth’s Rhythm: The Rise and Fall of Arctic Ice ❄️ Have you ever noticed how the planet seems to breathe? In the Arctic, this rhythm is visible expanding and contracting through the seasons as sea ice grows and melts. Using satellite data and visualization tools, I explored how Arctic Sea ice reflects the heartbeat of our changing climate. Each cycle tells a story of resilience, balance, and vulnerability reminding us that Earth is alive, dynamic, and responsive.
If the Arctic breathes, then Antarctica mirrors that rhythm the other pole of our planet’s frozen balance. Using satellite data and visualization tools, I explored how Antarctic sea ice expands and retreats through the seasons. These vast changes are more than just patterns of ice, they are reflections of Earth’s pulse steady, dynamic, and deeply intertwined with our global climate. While the Arctic shows us resilience and adaptation, Antarctica reveals endurance and silence both telling stories of a planet that is alive and constantly in motion.
